08 Jul RTA Cabinet Measuring Guide

When it comes to RTA cabinets, it’s crucial to record correct measurements so you can order the right size cabinets for your space. That’s why we’ve put together this simple measuring guide to help you understand the basic measurement process and get the perfect fit for your kitchen or bathroom!

Draw a Diagram for Recording Your Measurements

Draw a rough sketch of your kitchen or bathroom before measuring. That way you can fill in the measurements as you go without forgetting anything. Be sure to measure the following areas:

  • Ceiling height
  • Wall dimensions
  • Window dimensions and their placement on the wall
  • Appliance dimensions and their placement on the wall (dishwashers, refrigerators, stoves, etc)

Consider the Location of Windows, Appliances and Sinks

Windows: Measure from the end of the wall to the edge of the window on both sides, then measure the dimension of the entire window.

Appliances: Plan to place your appliances near utility hookups.

Sinks: Choose a sink base cabinet unit that will fit the plumbing connections inside of it. Note that the plumbing unit doesn’t necessarily have to fit in the center of the cabinet.

Measure Accurately

All measurements should be within ¼” of the exact dimensions to make sure the cabinets fit properly.

Use two people to measure if this is more helpful, with one person holding the tape measurer and one person recording the measurements.

Here are some examples of accurate diagrams and measurements:
